‘Out beyond ideas of wrong and rightdoing, there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.’

RUMI

“I participated in a chamber choir project. One year we sang about being on a journey. For the project they brought people together from all different kind of cultures.

I was asked in this project to create a song and that’s when I remembered that quote: “Out beyond ideas of wrong and right-doing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there. It captured the whole project for me and I think for a lot of people in that project. Cause this small quote, I think, is kind of what this time needs.”

I already had a guitar piece written which had influences from the Arabic scales. Just a little, but you could sense. Basically starting from that feeling, the idea for the lyrics of reaching out to Rumi happened, they triggered each other. So unconsciously it already related, before it was put together. The song got two verses; the first verse is written by me and the second is very much based on his poems: “Here before words jolt through our hands, let fall the worried soul, I’ll meet you there.”
